CHANGES IN THE CLUB
Rick Nelson has consented to be the new Mileage Director and Sharon Heaton will be Scheduling Director, (position that Rick held previously). Thank you, Judy Nelson for your years as Mileage Director! Bernie Wildes will be doing the Trailblazer. More to be voted on at the Annual Meeting.
Just planning ahead! Keep in mind!
The membership rate is: $15.00/year for the paper copy of the Trailblazer. It’s $7.00/year when you receive the Trailblazer by email. Mail your dues checks to: Phyllis Swenson, 3706 Linden Ave., White Bear Lake, MN 55110. Dues are due by March 1st. Those members that joined late in the year will also need to renew.
The Club has designed Centennial Memorial vests for Club members to purchase. The cost will be based on the total number of vests ordered (the more we order, the cheaper the cost per vest). Our estimate of the final cost will be in the $17.00-$22.00 range & payment will be due upon receipt of your vest. Lyle Mowery will be taking orders at hikes or by appointment between now and February 21, 2021. His cell phone is: 651-503-3395 and his email: email@example.com. He will have samples to view and sizes at time of order.
HIKING CLUB HISTORY
On Sunday, May 23, 1937 hikers from our Club boarded the South St. Paul/Inver Grove (Heights) streetcar at 4th & Robert St. in downtown St. Paul at 9:45 a.m. and rode down to Inver Grove Heights, the station was at Linden St. (58th) and Concord. They started the hike that morning at 10:30 and went on a 13-mile hike to and from Pine Bend. They followed the Mississippi River to Pine Bend and returned viz the bluffs and country. (They had to bring a lunch that day!) Dinner was at Duke’s (now called Jersey’s) in IGH.
