HIKING CLUB HISTORY
Speaking of the Annual Meeting: in 1980 the Annual Meeting was held Tuesday, February 10, at the Capp Towers Hotel in St. Paul with dinner beforehand.
Another tidbit- At a meeting on November 23, 1923 at Highwood Commercial Club following the usual hike, the first formal constitution was adopted for the Club and dues payments for memberships began
JOB OPENINGS ON THE BOARD
As most of you know, I am ending my stint as Publicity Director after 13 years. What was supposed to be a short-term of 1 year turned into much longer, as many positions do in many places/organizations. During my years I
Instituted emailing the Trailblazer to members while handling the roster until taken over again by a Membership Director, mailing press releases, printing labels for previous Mailing Directors and I was the secretary taking notes at the Board meetings until the position was reinstated.
Instituted deadlines for receiving the hike info for the Trailblazer so the newsletter can be processed and sent out in a timely manner before the hikes are to take place.
Designed and had ID badges changed from a more expensive engraved version to the ones we have now to make it easier for people to find us.
Designed business cards. Had a sign professionally made to help people find the start of the hikes.
Went to expos to publicize the Club, mailed countless press releases. It’s not just a newsletter job. - It’s being the main communicator of all things for the Hiking Club (cancelled hikes being one of them).
Footnote: The President’s position is open if anyone wants to run. Bob would like to move into another position on the Board. -Any takers?
Just planning ahead! Keep in mind!
The membership rate is: $15.00/year for the paper copy of the Trailblazer. It’s $7.00/year when you receive the Trailblazer by email. Mail your dues checks to: Phyllis Swenson, 3706 Linden Ave., White Bear Lake, MN 55110. Dues are due by March 1st.
