SUNDAY hikes start at 2:30 p.m., go approx. 5 miles and last approx. 1 ½ to 2 hours.

 

TUESDAY hikes start at 07:00 p.m., go approx. 3 miles, and last approx. 1 hour.

The SPHC walks at a moderate speed of 2.5 - 3.5 mph. Hikers are expected to maintain that pace. (17-24 min. mile) Hikes start on time.

Meeting Location: Meet at Cottage Grove Ravine Park, 9653 Keats Ave S. Follow a winding road that ends at the largest parking lot in front of the Ravine Center overlooking Ravine Lake & playground. It’s free Tuesday, no sticker required.  

Directions: Take Hwy 61 to Innovation Rd exit, across overpass to roundabout, follow Keats to park entrance, 1st right past roundabout. Watch for the park sign.

Hike Description: We will hike wooded, hilly, rustic trails depending on conditions.

Meeting Location: Meet at 5880 Rice Creek Pkwy, Shoreview aka Rice Creek Fields

Directions: Take 35W North past Hwy 10 and take exit at Co Rd J, turn east, go to Rice Creek Pkwy and turn south proceed 1000 feet and parking is on east side. 

Hike Description: We will hike paved trails, fairly level.

Meeting Location: Meet at Keller Regional Park Round Lake 910 Frost Ave, Maplewood, MN 55109 

Directions: From Hwy 61 go east on Frost Ave one block and park on right side.  

Hike Description: Hike will be in Phalen Park paved trails.

Meeting Location: Meet 1:00 PM at Keller Lake Park Shelter #3.  the annual potluck picnic.

Directions: South from Hwy 36 on Hwy 61. (See page 1 for directions).

Hike Description: Hike will be three miles after the annual picnic on paved trails and a few streets in the neighborhood.

Treats: Potluck before hike.

Meeting Location:  Meet in the parking lot of Wakefield Park Ctr at 1820 Hazelwood St., in Maplewood.

Directions: Parking lot just south of Frost Ave & Hazelwood St intersection.

Hike Description: We will walk trails and through the neighborhood.

Meeting Location: The 694 DOUBLE CROSS: Meet at the former president’s white house, 3966 Reservoir Blvd., Columbia Heights.   

Directions: East of Central Ave NE

Hike Description: It will be a 6-mile walk over 694 and back featuring the walk on the median of MN 65 under the 694 overpass. Three-mile option available as usual.

Treats: Stagger back for deck (weather permitting) or indoor build-your- own taco, sides, and beverages party.

Meeting Location: Meet  in the IHop parking lot, 7680 10th St N. Oakdale. 

Directions: Take I-694 ti 10th St exit, go east on 10th St, Turn left on Helmo Ave., then right into the parking lot.

Hike Description: We will hike Oak Marsh Golf Course.

Meeting Location: Meet at Arlington Station Post Office, 40 Arlington Ave E., St Paul.   

Directions: (West of Jackson St. ½ mile West of 35E & ½ mile North of Maryland Ave in St Paul) Off street parking or park on Arlington away from bus stops. (See No parking signs)

Hike Description: We will hike Trout Brook Trail to and around McCarrons Lake & back.

Treats: Crooked Pint Ale House, 1734 Adolphus St.

Hike Description: Neighborhood hiking, of course mosquito free.

The July bird of the month is the Eagle.

Eagles are often associated with strength courage, and freedom, 

making them a fitting symbol of the month.
