January 2026 Hiking Schedule

SUNDAY hikes start at 2:30 p.m., go approx. 5 miles and last approx. 1 ½ to 2 hours.

 

TUESDAY hikes start at 11:30 a.m., go approx. 3 miles, and last approx. 1 hour.

The SPHC walks at a moderate speed of 2.5 - 3.5 mph. Hikers are expected to maintain that pace. (17-24 min. mile) Hikes start on time.

Directions: South of County Rd F East, off McMenemy St.  

Hike Description: Neighborhood hiking lacking bugs and snakes.

Meeting Location: Meet at Sweeney’s Saloon, 96 N. Dale Street, St. Paul, 55102.

Directions: One mile south of Hwy 94 on Dale Street. Street parking is one-side only, so give yourself time to find a spot.

Hike Description: We’ll hike the lovely historic neighborhood, including a loop around the Cathedral of St. Paul.

Directions: On Birch St between Centerville Rd to the East and Hodgson Rd to the West

Hike Description: We’ll hike paved trails & neighborhood streets.

Meeting Location: Meet in the parking lot of IHOP, 7680 10th St. N. in Oakdale.

Directions: Take 694 to 10th St. exit, go east, turn left onto Helmo Ave. N., turn right into the IHOP parking lot. 

Hike Description: We will hike neighborhood trails. 

Treats: IHOP

Meeting Location:  Meet at the Battle Creek Waterpark, 2401 Upper Afton Road in Maplewood.

Directions: Take Hwy 94 to McKnight rd, go South to Upper Afton and turn left.

Hike Description: We will walk down to Hwy 61 and surrounding areas and walk back up the hill.

Treats: Culvers 2065 Old Hudson Road, Just West of the Sunray Shopping Center

Directions: Off Century Ave and north of the DQ. 

Hike Description: We'll hike through the Nature Center and Union Cemetery.

Meeting Location: Meet at Stryker Ave and Annapolis St in St Paul  

Directions: Down town St Paul Head south on Robert St and turn west on Annapolis St. 

Hike Description: Hike as the club did on January 30, 1926, “south and east, over hills and through the woods” (now alas gone) to S Robert “returning to the neighborhood House” (likewise gone) at “229 E Indiana” (now Fillmore), and back to the start. 

Treats: Food & Bev Opportunity: Joseph’s Grill, 140 South Wabasha St., St Paul.

Meeting Location: Meet at Liz’s house, 268 Dennison Ave, Shoreview.

Directions: From Hwy 694: Go North on Rice St., at the roundabout take 2nd exit on Hodgson Rd.

Hike Description: Hike paved trails.  

Treats: Liz’s house.
