June 2025 Newsletter

Sunday hikes start at 2:30 pm, go approx. 5 miles, last 1 1⁄2 – 2 hrs.

Tuesday hikes start at 07:00 pm, go approx. 3 miles, last about 1 hour.

The SPHC walks at a moderate speed of 2.5 -3.5 mph. (17-24 min. mile)

Hikers are expected to maintain that pace. Hikes start on time.

World Environment Day 2025: Celebrated on June 5th focuses on ending plastic pollution. Plastic has seeped into every corner of the world, leaching into the water we drink, the food we eat and our bodies.

That distance is the straight line distance between Los Angeles and New York City.

Largest hike so far was Vicky Beutel’s hike from Vadnais-Sucker Lake recreational area on April 6 which had 28 hikers.

50 of the club members have hiked so far.

Sue Crawford, Don Crawford, Sharon Heaton and Patty Peterson made all 8 of the April hikes. 

30 hikes completed with temps. 2 of them below zero F, 2 between zero and 9F, 4 between 10F and 19F, 1 in the 20’s, 7 in the 30’s, 7 in the 40’s, 4 in the 50’s 3 in the 60’s. 2 had snow and or rain.

Club members with the last names that start with H = 388 miles, C = 354 miles, B = 326 miles, N = 262 miles, W = 232 miles.

Most Dads want...A nice dinner or “A visit and a hug from my kids and grand kids”.
